Youth Minister
About the Role
Job Overview:
The Youth Minister is responsible for fostering a sense of community within and
outside the church, facilitating outreach programs, and coordinating events to engage and
connect with church members between the ages of five and seventeen. This position plays a
vital role in supporting and promoting the church’s mission and values through meaningful
relationships and impactful community initiatives, prompting and promoting the spiritual
development of the youth of FABC.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree, youth ministry experience, and Seminary training from an
accredited institution preferred.
Job Description:
● Plans and directs programs, services, and activities for youth and program recruitment.
● Identify needs and evaluate existing programs to determine effectiveness.
● Provides advice and assistance to the Pastor on program materials, equipment, supplies,
space and other church related accommodations required by youth.
● Plan and direct youth fellowships, retreats, mission trips, seminars and workshops.
● Provides counseling to youth and parents as needed.
● Conducts youth bible study.
● Develop working relationships with local schools; in creating opportunities to speak and visit with youth.
● Keep abreast of current trends in youth education, programs and youth culture.
● Work with youth, programs and activity leaders to encourage and enhance
recruitment and participation.
● Responsible for planning and implementing recruitment strategies, training and
supervising all volunteers, youth ministry advisors and youth council.
● Meet monthly or as required with ministry leaders to discuss upcoming events, issues,
challenges, and resolutions.
● Preach, counsel, and perform other duties as directed by the Pastoral Team.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
● Strong computer skills with knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications
including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to operate office equipment.
● Social media proficiency, along with abilities to manage Zoom and other communication
softwares.
● Results-oriented self-starter able to solve problems and perform duties with speed and
accuracy.
● Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● A trainer and facilitator.
● Capable of handling stress and keeping confidential and sensitive information.
